Peerless Foods began its life in the 1950s as a small business, recycling and rendering meat by-products in Melbourne, Victoria. Over the years, the refinery was upgraded and expanded with state-of-the-art technology and systems.

By the 1980s, the company had diversified its operation from tallow to other edible fats and oils, including margarine. A number of retail and foodservice brands were developed while the company continued to expand into various markets by introducing value-add processes and efficient packaging operations. Through a key acquisition in 2005, Peerless Foods purchased Unilever’s non-retail margarine and oil business which included the EOI, Copha, Fairy and Kremelta brands.

Today, the company provides branded and private label packaged oils, spreads, margarines and shortenings to 5 major segments of the market including Retail, Food Service, Bakery, Ingredients and Export. Our products are sold through major retailers and key distributors Australia-wide and also exported to many parts of the world, including Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
